Songsmiths was founded in 2012 by the pianist Audrey Hyland. The aim of the group is to connect songs in varied languages and styles to unite the world of song through a common theme, story and emotional journey.
Songsmiths brings together sopranos Elizabeth Watts and Mary Bevan, mezzo soprano Anna Huntley, countertenor Christopher Ainslie, tenor Nicky Spence, baritones Marcus Farnsworth and Gareth Brynmor John and bass baritone Jonathan Lemalu.
Since their first concert at St. Georges, Hanover Square, Songsmiths have completed a series of recitals at St. John’s Smith Square and appeared at the Spitalfields Festival.
Recent engagements include further appearances at St. John’s Smith Square; debuts at the Musee d’Orsay, Paris; Haddo Arts Festival; Buxton Festival and their debut at the Wigmore Hall.
