Croatian mezzo soprano Jelena Kordić is currently a member of the Opera Studio at the Semperoper Dresden (2015-2017). She made her debut as The Tango Singer The Great Gatsby in a production by Keith Warner. Jelena’s other roles in Dresden will include Cherbuino; Dorabella; Hänsel; Orlovsky; Annio La Clemenza di Tito; Fox The Cunning Little Vixen; Lola Cavalleria Rusticana; Emilia Otello; Mercedes Carmen and Hannah Die Passagierin by Weinberg.
Jelena made her debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Zargreb in 2010 as Dritte Dame Die Zauberflöte, since then her repertoire in Zagreb has included Maddalena Rigoletto; Mercedes Carmen; Fenena Nabucco; Meg Page Falstaff; Lola Cavalleria Rusticana; Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel; Olga Eugene Onegin and she has sang Octavian in a concert performance of Der Rosenkavalier. This season Jelena will return to Zagreb for Cherubino in a new production of Le nozze di Figaro.
On the concert platform Jelena has appeared regularly with the Zargreb Philharmonic Orchestra, notably in performances of the Verdi Requiem, Dvořak Stabat Mater and in Prokofiev’s Cantata Alexander Nevsky. Conductors with whom Jelena has collaborated with include: Antonello Allemandi, Omer Meir Wellber, Mihajl Sinkjevich, Srboljub Dinić, Nikša Bareza, Uroš Lajovic and Ivan Repušić.
Jelena graduated from the Academy of Music at the University of Zagreb.
